Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) were introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings.

 

 

All buildings, whenever they are built, sold or rented out, now require one. The EPC provides 'A' to 'G' ratings for the building, with 'A' being the most energy efficient and 'G' being the least, with the average to date being 'D'.

About 40% of UK 's energy consumption results from domestic use - due to lighting, heating, air-conditioning and other household uses. The  Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) will be a concrete step in curtailing this massive consumption. They not only give an estimation of the energy efficiency, EPC's also have necessary information to help improve the energy-efficiency of a building.

You can arrange for a certificate yourself, or leave it to organisations such as Estate Agents or HIP providers. In either case, a simple phone call to the 0800 number above will secure a dedicated assessor who will make rapid contact with you as a valued client, and ensure that a certificate is generated the same day as the survey in order to complete your HIP as fast as possible.



 

Sequence of events: (can be done in 24 hours)

1. Client or representative contacts HIP provider, or me directly.
2. Once I have been notified, I will email and phone the client on the same day.
3. Client supplies pre-inspection information, which confirms the property details and available times, and highlights any health & safety information.
4. Site inspection: This will normally take between 30-45 minutes, followed by report writing back at the office. The inspection will involve measuring the house and looking in every room, including the loft space, cellars and garages. It may also involve taking some evidential photographs of items such as boilers, loft lagging, other heating systems, conservatories, double glazing frames, or any aspect that may require special attention or work.
5. An Energy report and certificate are compiled and emailed to you or your HIP provider the same day. The report will include suggested improvements and the relevant cost implications. You do not have to comply with any of them, but I will be available to explain any aspect of the report and its recommendations in a friendly and positive manner, or to give any advice on energy improvements.

HIP PROVIDERS:
On calling me, I will make immediate contact with the client, and email or phone you with the survey appointment time.
I will then carry out the survey and email you the RRN with a report and Certificate on the same day, including a direct link to the Government portal so that you can pull down a copy of the Certificate or report should you so wish. I will invoice you directly (see prices below).

LANDLORDS:
Simply pass me the details of the property, and notify the tenants. I will then confirm the survey time with the tenants direct, or collect the keys from your letting agent. The survey will be completed very quickly and with no fuss. I will email you directly with the full survey and an invoice.
